COMPANY AND MISSION

The Giba winery was born with the idea of creating a product that holds a strong connection with its territory, making wine that represents the unique features of Sulcis, and all of its potential.

The “Cantina Giba” brand, in short, aims to transfer its terroir into the quality of its wines, which is why a single variety vinification is used for both the Carignano and the Vermentino. The vines, located between Calasetta, Sant’Antioco, Masainas, Nuxis, Giba and Porto Pino, were chosen as those particularly suited to this kind of cultivation.

The winery has three production lines, based exclusively on its own grape varieties – Carignano del Sulcis and Vermentino di Sardegna DOC.

The names of the three varieties represent the unique characteristics that make them what they are. The “Giba” range recalls fine wines while also being easy to drink. The “6Mura” is a range of fine wines that represent the best potential and expression of the Sulcis territory. And finally the “Seipiù” numbered special reserves that demonstrate how our wines age.

The Giba range consists of three products:

1) Giba – Vermentino di Sardegna doc

2) Giba – Carignano del Sulcis doc

3) Giba – Rosato Carignano del Sulcis doc

All of the Giba range wines are single variety which means they’re made without any type of blend, all with fruit grown and harvested in Sulcis.

The “6Mura” range also consists of three products:

1) 6Mura – Vermentino di Sardegna doc

2) 6Mura – Carignano del Sulcis Riserva doc

3) 6Mura – Spumante Metodo Classico di Carignano del Sulcis

In addition to being single variety, the 6Mura wines are aged in barrels, which has remarkable results. This aging process gives both the Carignano and the Vermentino very valuable notes. Since 2014 we’ve produced Carignano with the ‘metodo classico’ all done within the company in an absolute artisan manner. It’s a unique product of its kind and in fact there are no similar wines on the market.
